SRMIST Attendance Guidelines & Academia Rules
Course-Wise 75% Requirement
At SRMIST, attendance is monitored on a per-course basis. Students must maintain a strict 75% in every lecture and laboratory course. High attendance in one course cannot offset attendance shortages in another.
Medical Condonation Procedure
Students with attendance between 65% and 74.9% must submit medical records verified by a registered medical practitioner within 7 working days of returning to campus. Approval is subject to the Dean's review and payment of the prescribed condonation fee.
Debarment & 'W' Grade
Students falling below 65% attendance cannot be condoned and receive a 'W' grade. They are prohibited from sitting for the semester end examinations and must re-register for the course in subsequent academic sessions.
On-Duty (OD) Leave Credit
SRM allows On-Duty (OD) attendance for students participating in sanctioned co-curricular, sports, or cultural activities representing the university, provided the formal OD application is endorsed by the faculty advisor and approved by the HoD prior to the event.
